I love the clips! So easy to snap the umbrella handle in and out. And the extra long handle attached to the hip belt adds stability that you can't achieve easily when attaching a shorter handled umbrella to just the shoulder straps.
for mine [also the heaviest item but then what is piece-of-mind worth?] it is the strongest hiking umbrella out there and incredibly reliable ... after using the clips for a number of years I now mostly use the zpacks [or Gossamer Gear] bungee...
