I have a little foam pouch "hook and looped" to the houlder strap on my pack. Always handy when walking and pack strap is at hand just under the bed at night.

Yes agree with this. Thats what works for me. All different of course so maybe start walking and see if you need any specific tools to focus. You may not do.

On the quieter side, Rabinal, La Faba, and Samos come to mind. If you want more action there's always Ponferrada.
