Can't answer for Portugal, but if wild camping in Spain? No fires. They're still prosecuting the German who allegedly set off a wildfire on the Frances....search earlier threads. -

Before the masses discovered the Camino Portuguese, the occasional pilgrim was welcomed at local fire stations. It's still worth a try. Nice guys.

Never walked the Portugal route, but on the Frances as well as the Primitivo there have been numerous places where i would think nobody would mind much if you put up your tent sundown to sunrise. Yes, not legal, you know that. Thinking of those...

Hi Bryan! Never camped wild and not sure which route your taking from Porto but this guy is the king of wild camping i think :) ! Might give you some ideas?
