I walked from SJPP to Roncesvalles in rainy weather, and quite frankly, it was miserable. There was no view to see whatsoever due to poor visibility. And isn't that the major draw of walking over the Pyrannes? I was also freezing cold even though... -

Starting in Pamplona is a great idea. I walked the Frances 4 times. Once from SJPP, it was great. But, the other times I started from Pamplona. PNA is easier to get to and the section to Burgos is wonderful.

NM. I just finalized train to SJ from Bayonne, then bus to Pamplona.
