Our arrival back in early May was totally different. It was raining, low cloud, cold and the village did not really appear until we were just after where this picture was taken. Oh BTW you would not believe how green the countryside was compared to the above drab down.
It is one of my loveliest sights on the Camino. I always stop there for a cold beer, before going on to Castrojeriz, where I always stop, taking the next steep climp from there the next cool morning.
Hola Alex, we had stopped the night before at Rabe de las Calzadas and after nearly 20km in heavy rain Hontanas was a logical stopping place. At least the boots and sleeping bag dried during the night. Following the rain it was still cool so we put in a long day from Hontanas to Boadilla,. It was actually a great walking day with a well earned beer at the finish!!
