I have both total and unpleasant memories of this section of the Camino. I was all but totally unprepared for it - it was TOTALLY "bike unfriendly". I walked; wheeled; even carried my bike up this incline. I know I was all but spent when I reached the cross - about 150 metres onward from this place. I was so stuffed I only managed to ride about 2-300 metres across the top. Going down I just could not control the bike so stopped and started walking again. But at the bottom (where you turn-off to Villaval I found an Irish family with a 4-wheeled trolly that they had carried over these rocks - and it had much smaller wheels than my bike. So I do not know HOW they did it. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
I walked this section again last May. We started from Atapuerca and over the top and down the bottom in less than one hour. About half the time I took wheeling & carrying the bike.
