Walking from Astorga to El Acebo ? That would be a very full day for me, especially in July. I have stayed a number of times at La Trucha in the middle of town. It only has four rooms and the Casa is very welcoming. Jamie makes you feel at home and always serves a nice breakfast.
I have heard a lot of good things about the Hostel. You can see it in the top corner of the photo. If no rooms are available at La Trucha, that would be my second choice. I don't swim very much but I understand they have a swimming pool. That sounds refreshing especially on a hot July day.
I can't wait to get back on the Camino next year. Hopefully under safe conditions and mask free.
2012 on my first Camino even using Poles fell into the right bank and had to have 7 stitches over my right eye ... Very thankful for all the Camino Angels that helped me especially Louis Molinaseca
Yah people were getting Taxis left right and center. I was determined not to, once we got to acebo, I remember one of our group had whiskey and soup. It Was a great experience now I can say I walk in a blizzard.
