I was completely exhausted when I got there, and would have liked to stay in that new albergue complex. Unfortunately my large pack was waiting for me in Molinaseca, so I had to call a taxi for that last stretch. I couldn't go another step.

I loved stopping in Acebo, and plan to stop there on my next trek this summer. But on the day I went through Acebo, I actually slept in a hotel in Pontferrada so I missed the chance to stay in a charming small town.

If you stop at "El Acebo" for sleeping go to the albergue Apostol Santiago close to the church it's a very nice albergue. Hospitaleros and pilgrims share diner all together. There is yet spirit of the Camino

Fantastic place...I say that it was my 2nd favorite day on the entire Camino after the 1st day. There is a fantastic albuergue at the end of the village:
Brand new and modern
Fantastic views
a refreshing pool
Great peregrino meal
reasonable costs

The hike from Astorga to el Acebo offers a lot...you'll hit Foncebadon (which is another fantastic village), you hit Cruz de Ferro, and end in el Acebo...it's a tough 37km with some uphill/downhill sections. but I'd love to be doing it right now.

Great pic
