My friend is arriving into Vigo airport next week & walking to Santiago. I would like to help him get a compostela & Vigo falls just short of the required 100km journey.

My guidebook says the church of San Miguel de Bouzas is 100km from Santiago - can anyone verify this? He is time poor so don't want to add a lot onto the journey - but open to any suggestions of where to start to make sure he has the 100km covered?

Thank you in advance!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
I'm not sure...you can get a bus from Vigo bus station to Nigran (Senda Litoral camino) that looks just over 100kms but that will add about 4hrs non stop walking plus the bus journey...around 30mins. Buses are shown on the Atsa website http://www.atsahorarios.com/
To be more sure it might be advisable to email the pigrims office in Santiago.

I was hoping he wouldn't have to go back that far. My guidebook says Vigo is 96.5km from SdC which should add no more than an hour onto his current journey. I did email the office a couple of days ago but have heard nothing back yet. But thank you!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Sarah I've checked back to my Brierley Guide Camino Portugues ...
using the Senda or coastal route and totting up the stage distances he gives from Vigo Cathedral or Bus Station the total is 102.8kms...
Buen Camino!

That's interesting! I am using a Johnnie Walker guide & he gives the following distances-

Vigo - Redonela 15km (Seaside Route)
Redonela - Pontevedra 20.5km (Coastal)
Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis 21.1km
Caldas de Reis - Padron 17km
Padron - Santiago 23.9km

I wish the Pilgrim office would just confirm this!!

I've put the brierley distances alongside yours...kind of negligible until the last two stages

Vigo - Redonela 15km (Seaside Route) 15.7
Redonela - Pontevedra 20.5km (Coastal) 20.2
Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis 21.1km 22.2
Caldas de Reis - Padron 17km 19.1
Padron - Santiago 23.9km 25.6

Get loads of sellos...hopefully the office will endorse

Did you end up getting the Compostela? Where was your starting point?

Hi Sarah!

I'm thinking of doing Vigo to Santiago next year. I went to Camino Ways website and they indicate that from Vigo to Arcade is 23 km. In total, from Arcade to Santiago is 100 km.
Check it out and see if that works for your friend!

Sarah made her first post in 2017, so I imagine that the Camino has been completed now. 😉

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
