Theft in Lezama before Bilbao

THEFT in Lezama. (right before Bilbao):

WARNING....there is a big man about 100kg who appear to pose as a pilgrim just as albergue opens. He goes in as soon as the first person leaves, pretends to look for something and leaves ..vanishing quickly . It’s dark and people are groggy. Seconds later, a peregrina is missing her phone.

We’re calling the police. Do NOT let anyone in you do not recognize. Know the faces in the albergue in the evening when you arrive. Sounds like a repeat offender has figured out a ‘system ‘

Also, make sure you activate the feature that allows you to disable your phone.. “Find My Phone” on iPhone..(Apple users: .make sure you know you Apple ID or can retrieve when your not thinking straight so you can deactivate your phone from a friend’s phone)

The advice is to keep your valuables with you in your sleeping bag. Sound advice, as far as it goes and then someone appears when everyone is getting out of their bags.... Yes, this sounds like a system. Someone has figured out a weakest link. Hope they catch him soon.
