Time of past OR future Camino
Central Portuguese Way
I’m planning to walk the Camino Portuguese Central (Porto to Santiago) in January, 7-16. I’m going with another 7 pilgrims. Any suggestions? Weather? Hotels? Should I walk or bike?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I recommend using the route planner at https://godesalco.com/plan and Gronze.com for accommodation. Another good resource site is WisePilgrim.com, which also has an app. I haven't walked at this time of year, but I don't expect there will be too much competition for beds in albergues, etc, but it will still be worthwhile checking that the places you are thinking of staying will have sufficient beds. Some smaller places won't, but you should be able to avoid them.

The weather will be much the same as last year, just on different days (apologies to Falcon269). I don't have a view on whether you should walk or cycle. The tracks were pretty good when I walked, but that was much later in the year. Someone else might know if there are specific issues about cycling in January.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

Probably an obvious tip is NOT to try and plan your camino around where the albergues are located - you will probably find that some of them are closed in January. Would be worth researching which ones are open at the planning stage.
If you decide to cycle, invest in a bell, as us walkers really appreciate some warning that you are coming by!
Pretty cycle-friendly, apart from the stage after Ponte de Lima which is a steep incline over rocky terrain
Buen camino/Bom Caminho

It will be impossible to bike the Roman Road after Labruja. It is steep, rocky and bikers had their bikes on their shoulders. Here are photos of this stage. Scroll down to see the area.
