- Time of past OR future Camino
- 2016, 2022, 2023, 2024, planned 2025
Hi all,
The '23-24 college year will be my last as a professor (retiring next year, can't wait) and as a result, I've been asked to plan a Study Abroad trip for 2 weeks over the Holiday season in late December and early January. As a result Phil and I are rethinking our summer plans so I can recon the Sarria to Santiago route. The trip in December /January will be mainly for health sciences students and will be based on self-care for the mind, body and soul.
So after our volunteer service in Arres this summer on the "Camino Frances through Aragon" we'll return to Madrid, spend the night in a trendy hostel pod called Oxygen near Atocha starion and then take the train from Chamartin to Sarria on June 17. Our goal is to stay in Xunta albergues for a 7-day trek into Santiago. Then scope out some group places to stay in Santiago for a few nights with a bus trip to Muxia or Finesterre thrown in at least one day.
I would like to book a trendy, less expensive place for the group in Madrid before going back to winter in Wyoming and we will have a couple of days or so in Madrid for some cultural visits. So we are staying at Oxygen to see if these Pods fit the bill, but I also see I can book for a group at The Hat. Another option is to book a huge AirBNB. I'd rather keep us on the bunk/albergue theme if possible for under $50 per night. I am think we will limit to 10 or 12 students and one more faculty member so space for 12 to 14 or so.
Your supportive thoughts here are welcome.
Janet
