Planning two very different trips!

K_Lynn

Buen Camino!
Time of past OR future Camino
Frances 2021, Ingles 2023
My new passport has arrived (HUZZAH!) and I am busy with spreadsheets, calendars and post it notes while I plan out two very different trips.

Trip 1: Cross country road trip, Vancouver to PEI, spanning 2 months (June and July). My partner will be doing site visits for work and while he could take multiple flights over the year to do so, he wants to drive. So, I've been busy finding dog-friendly hotels and a cottage for our holiday in the middle of our very long drive back and forth across the country. I think I have our schedule planned out of where we're going and have started booking all our accommodations. We'll be staying with my sister for a couple of weeks so I am also planning what meals I can torture her with and making a list of the herbs and spices to bring along lol.

Trip 2: Caminho Portugues and Camino Ingles (September, October, 1st week of November) This one has been less stressful to plan out lol. I've downloaded maps, made my spreadsheet of which towns and the distance for each day, made notes for what I might like to see along the way, added new gear to my pile and removed a few items. Flights and initial accommodations have not been made yet, but I have made a few faces at airline websites and prices.

Now I just need the snow and ice to melt away so I can start walking again and testing out all my gear to make sure it will keep me cool enough for the southern Portugal heat and warm enough for the cooler temps of northern Spain! Or cool enough for the very hot and humid temps of southern Ontario and warm enough for the frozen hinterlands of Alberta!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Will Trip 1 include Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador?

There are some nice cottages on Grand Manan Island (NB) and the north shore of the St Lawrence east of Quebec City is lovely.

I can’t speak to the Portugese or Inglis … but happy planning.

No Newfoundland or Labrador sadly :( but we'll be in Halifax for a week for his work and have a few day trips planned. I think his cousins want to take him out fishing while in the Halifax area, my cousins in PEI will not be taking us out on their lobster boat lol

Grand Manan Island looks lovely but I don't think we'll have time for that. I love the north shore of the St Lawrence.

Don't forget the PEI camino theislandwalk.ca enjoy whatever you do!
I've looked at that and was going to do a portion of it last year, but sadly the accommodations and infrastructure is lacking. As an example, if doing the western portion of the island, you will need a taxi to pick you up every day to drive you back to the town you started in and then back the next day to where you ended to start walking again. It's probably best done by bicycle as you can go farther every day, or if you have 2 cars so that you drive one ahead to your days end point and... gah! it's way too complicated. There is no accommodation for 4 stages between Wellington and Anglo Tignish. It's a shame, it's a beautiful island and walking would not be strenuous.

I think we will only be on the island for 4 days so my walking will mostly be up and down the beaches or from the car to the oyster bar or lobster shack. :D
