First Sello In Madrid

Sorry if this has been asked before . Where do you recommend getting the first sello in your credencial in Madrid, when starting the Camino de Madrid (besides one’s accommodation)? Thanks! Jill

I found a credencial and my first sello in the Church of Santiago. Very central - 5 or 10 minutes west of Puerta del Sol. http://www.santiagoysanjuan.org

Not specially for the Camino de Madrid but it is one specially designed for the Madrid church. Recognised by the Pilgrim Office in Santiago.

I will have the normal one with me; but if I’m able to pick up the pictured ‘credencial’ I’ll use ‘it’.

If you pick up your credencial in the church dont forget that there is a mass at 7 or 7.30. At this mass the preast blessed me and my camino. Very moving and a fantastic start for my camino.

Likewise Mass at 12:00. This is what I said last May.....
It is a five minute walk from Ópera metro station to Santiago church. Worth having a street map or you'll find you are using up battery v quickly on phone with Google maps! Nice church and welcoming sacristan who provided credencial and expressed amazement that I intended to reach Tres Cantos in the afternoon. I'm not certain how much was due to the distance and how much to the physical specimen in front of him!
I stayed for Mass at 12, increasing the congregation from 4 to 5. And received a solitary solemn pilgrim blessing which seemed the right way to start.
