So... Camino numero three is coming up (hurrah!) and I've been toying with either starting at St. Jean again (as I think Navarra and Rioja are the nicest bits!) or doing the Northern way...

Really not sure what I want to do at the moment. Does the Northern route offer that lovely sense of cameraderie that the French Way does?

Why not do bits of both?
I know of a pilgrim (speak up if you are still on this forum) who started st St Jean, then got a bus to the Camino Norte, back to the Frances, back to the Norte and ended up doing the Primitivo on the last bit.
You could REALLY confuse them in the pilgrim's office!

You wont find the sense of cameradie that you are used to at the CF although it could easily happen when more pelgrims are on route and that you find 2 or 3 pelgrims at most!.
We walked the North Route in May 2006 from Hendaya/Irun just to Colunga and did meet only 12 other pelgrims (2 of which were walking back to France from Santiago).

The first days we missed that sense but the North Route offers a lot more other things....the sea, beautiful nature,silence and much more challench than the CF.

NO !!!

Flew to Vallodolid, took the train to Hendaya and walked 2 km back to Irun across the bridge of St.James.
There we started.
