Thank you Falcon, my husband keeps talking about a Camino where he gets to stay in monasteries and I had sadly resigned myself to let him do that alone in fear they wouldn't allow women at the monasteries... but thanks to your link I can see they do! So thank you!!!!

Thanks, Falcon, you post some interesting articles that we, the broader Camino community, would never come across otherwise.

@Gueza - sometimes monasteries only allow women ;) The term monastery is derived from the same Greek word 'monazein' as monasticism and means to 'dwell alone'. It relates to both monks and nuns who live a contemplative life and who are cloistered (shut off from the world -> living along). It is a common misconception that monasteries are for monks and convents are for nuns.
