LIVE from the Camino Camino Madrid at the mo.....

Sounds promising. The great thing about the caminos was the albergues - they made the walks accessible to everyone. Not everyone can afford €50 a night for a bed on top of all the other expenses, so let's hope the albergues all open ASAP and advertise they're open.

LIVE from the Camino Camino Madrid at the mo.....

Thanks. I suspected as much from other groups. Enjoy the walk. Segovia is great but the walk out of Segovia is one of my all time favourite days - classic big countryside, path leading off into the distance, mountains and a beautiful city being left behind...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Madrid at the mo.....

Having walked this twice, does anyone have some thoughts about the accommodation situation at the moment? If you set off in a few weeks, I wonder what you'd find? Currently re-looking at options for a trip sooner rather than later and I do like the Madrid ...

Virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid - Detailed planning

On both my trips, I recall the Tres one in the council house holding only 4 people, but all the others I stayed in were able to hold a dozen or more.

Virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid - Detailed planning

"Añe....... No bar or shop in the village." From my notes on the 2017 walk ... "However, and here is the good news, there is a bar in Ana! Crazy, but it has no sign and no name and the locals I asked earlier all denied there was a cafe / bar / shop. It is two minutes from the albergue. Find...

Virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid - Detailed planning

Totally agree. There are more than enough bars, eateries etc, and most people are only going to arrive in the late afternoon, shower, eat, drink, sleep and be gone early the next day. Anywhere can be fine for a short stay.

Virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid - Detailed planning

All this stuff about the Madrid is making me think that a third walk might not be a bad thing next year. The great thing about this walk is how it makes a really handy two week break.

Virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid - Detailed planning

I really would not be in a rush to leave Madrid to start the Camino if you can possibly swing it, or spend time there at the end. You are in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with fabulous Art galleries, food, architecture, gardens, great transport etc etc. It has a budget for...

    Thinking about Camino de Madrid

https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/and-we-are-off-daily-posts-from-the-way.47565/ Here are the notes from the second time I did the Madrid, combined with a few other Caminos - what a truly glorious trip that was! It brought it all back, reading through them again. The notes from...

    Thinking about Camino de Madrid

I've walked it twice and rate it highly; there is a great cross-section of experiences, is historical esp Roman, it's a much less busy route but with (had) good infrastructure and if you only have 2 weeks, this is a great choice. Its also easy to get to Madrid and start (or end). That day's walk...

    Camino de Madrid April 2020

I've walked it twice and really like it. It's perfect if you only have a two week holiday, lots of variety, more than enough places to stay and get fed and watered, good sign posting, is very quiet and ticks all the boxes (for me). If you have more time, the problem comes at the end of the two...

LIVE from the Camino And we are off. Daily posts from The Way .....

Golly gosh! I’m killing the afternoon in Egypt, waiting for my evening flight back to Blighty and started re-reading these posts of the Camino last year. This really was a fun walk and met so many nice people. And of course, we are soon into the New Year and thoughts will be turning to a new...

    Madrid thoughts sept/oct 2017

A few of us walked Madrid / Salvador / Primitivo last year and the daily notes were posted on this forum. A super walk. Lots of fun. Mine start here: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/and-we-are-off-daily-posts-from-the-way.47565/ And if you look down the forum you’ll see...

LIVE from the Camino And we are off. Daily posts from The Way .....

Day 37 - Muxia - Santiago by bus The hostel last night was okay, although I'm not a fan of mixed toilets and showers, where the doors have massive gaps at the top and bottom. With hindsight, I wouldn't stay there again, but would choose the very first albergue as you enter Muxia, Albergue de...

LIVE from the Camino And we are off. Daily posts from The Way .....

Day 36 - Finisterre - Muxia - 31kms God bless the Spanish weather forecasters. I doubt they could forecast what they are going to have for breakfast (when they get up) let alone the weather. Despite forecasts yesterday for clouds and rain today with thunderstorms, it was a lovely day, quite hot...

Day 35 Cee - Finisterre- 16kms Today, was a great day. The rain held off all day today and the temperature was just right for walking. I set off at a very late 8.00am and took my time walking round the coast to a Finisterre. Cee was a nice enough town but around the coast another kilometre or...

LIVE from the Camino And we are off. Daily posts from The Way .....

10.30pm and still wide awake - I think this is a Camino record for me! It could be the excellent Spag Bog I had in town, or the €1.20 box of Don Simon Vino Tinto bought from the large Careforre in town. This place is interesting. It's essentially a rundown seaside town, with numerous places...

LIVE from the Camino A short walk from Madrid

Sounds like a lot of fun, time. Well done for completing it. The Puente Duero place is an interesting one. Arturo is a nice chap, but he spent much of his time when four of us were there following individuals around e.g. straightening the toaster so it was parallel to the wall after being used...

LIVE from the Camino And we are off. Daily posts from The Way .....

Day 34 Vilaserio - Cee - 37kms Last night was not a good night at Albergue A Nosa Casa. There was not enough bog paper to go round, not nearly enough electrical points, the wifi was very iffy, the dorm was full of snorers and it was boiling hot so sleeping was hard work, and the bunk beds...

LIVE from the Camino And we are off. Daily posts from The Way .....

Day 33 - Santiago - Vilaserio - 36kms I was up and out on my way at 6.00am on the dot this morning. It was forecast to be another hot one and so it proved until around 2.00pm, when cloud cover rolled in and thunder could be heard. It rained shortly after checking in to Albergue A Nosa Casa in...
