Thanks. Food for thought, and I do like solitude

    Which Camino Combo

I could start with the Invierno like you have suggested, but hiking the Primitivo in reverse still has an appeal because it will feel like a different hike. Thanks for the reply

    Which Camino Combo

When hiking one doesn't tend to look back very often. I have hiked a trail here in Australia both ways and it was nice to have different views. It felt like a different trail

    Which Camino Combo

Hi All I am leaving(Australia) on April 23 to hike a Camino combo and having extensively planned my trip am now thinking of changing it. My planned trip was as follows; Camino San Salvador - Camino Del Norte from Aviles –Camino Finisterre – Catching a bus back to Lugo and hiking the Primitivo...

    Cycling the Norte

Thanks Skinnybiker and Jerry He will be riding an urban ebike so will be sticking to bitumen and concrete. He's also in his seventies as I am, so a normal MTB is out of the question. Logistics will take a bit of planning if he decides to come, but we both love a challenge. I will look for the...

    Cycling the Norte

This is exactly what I'm worried about and I have to warn him, but I'm sure there would be lot's of positives, such as time to explore the beaches, and towns etc. Remember, " It's the journey that matters, not the destination", and he is a practiced solo cyclist, and traveller, who loves to explore.

    Cycling the Norte

Cycling the Del Norte I am attempting a 780km Camino combo starting in Leon on 25 April and a friend from the Netherlands wants to join me and cycle the Del Norte from Aviles to Santiago. It will be challenging for him as he will have a lot of spare time to make up while waiting for me to...

    San Salvador and Del Norte

Thanks. I will take my summer sleeping bag (600gn) and ditch it if I don't need it. I'm mainly worried that Municipals won't have blankets.

    San Salvador and Del Norte

Hi fellow Pilgrims I will be hiking the San Salvador, crossing to Aviles and completing the Norte and Finisterre in May. If I have time I may even walk back to Oviedo on the Primitivo. I plan to leave Leon either April 25 or 26 and want to know whether to carry a sleeping bag. I only used a...

Sleeping bag? and looking for Kiwi couple

Hi fellow Pilgrims I will be hiking the San Salvador, crossing to Aviles and completing the Norte and Finisterre in May. I plan to leave Leon either April 25 or 26 and want to know whether to carry a sleeping bag. I only used a liner on the Primitivo in May this year, but plan to stay in as...

    San Salvador-Norte, or Via Podiensis

Hi Pelerina Thanks. I've probably decided to hike the 3 Camino's starting in Leon, although the Podiensis is still on my radar. I think Spain is calling me again. On my last day on the Primitivo in May I passed a female pilgrim walking the opposite way. I of course stopped to ask why and she...

    San Salvador-Norte, or Via Podiensis

Hi Camino Chrissy and everybody else who has replied. Thanks for your advice, and I would really love to hear your opinions on the Norte from Aviles. From my research I am beginning to think there could be too much road walking involved and too many pilgrims. I thought the Primitivo was...

    San Salvador-Norte, or Via Podiensis

Hi All After completing the Primitivo in May, I've got the bug, and am planning a longer hike next year. I loved carrying a small pack, without all the necessary items for through hiking, a bed at night and all the other services, which we don't get here in Australia on multi-day hikes. Plus...

Beginning my preparations - Why? Where? How? etc.

Hi Duckadang Greetings from Gympie. We, (my wife and I) will also be hiking the Camino in May, and because we are seasoned hikers who love hiking in nature, and after much (TOO MUCH!) research, have decided to do the Primitivo. Because of it's length, we will be able to take our time and my...

What weather to expect on Primitivo in May

Hi Bob I am also planning to hike the Primitivo in late April-early May so will be interested in responses from Pilgrims who have walked at that time of year.

Just got back home from the Primitivo

I am hoping to walk the Primitivo next May. I am an experienced hiker and keep myself fit, so at 71, really, the only thing I'm worried about is the weather in May. What date did you start and did you get much rain?

    heel pain

If it is plantar, ask your physio to tape your foot or you could self tape with the aid of youtube. I have learnt how to self tape and it has allowed me to walk in comfort. Planning the Camino primitivo next year, so hopefully my plantar has completely gone by then, Yes, it can last for years.

    Primitivo

Hi My wife and I are hoping to hike the Primitivo in 2023. It will be our only Camino as age is catching up with us and we're from Australia, so time and travel is also an issue. We are serious hikers so fitness isn't an issue. Thinking of starting in April (probably the last week), but any...
