    Salomon trail runners for 800K

I agree with Vince. If you like the Salomon fit, I highly recommend the Ultra 4 hikers instead of runners. If you compare tread on the shoes, the runners have less tread. I walk a lot and go through 4 pair a year. I usually change them between 500-600 miles depending on the type of terrain I...

Will I regret skipping Porto to Vila do Conde?

I walked in May this year from Porto to Santiago and I agree with others here, skipping the first few days you wont miss a lot. I love the ocean so I did enjoy it, but it was like walking through any coastal town. The majority of the Boardwalk ends in Esposende and if I'm honest; I did not...

    Brands of tea in Spain

Twinings English Breakfast tea with real milk. Twinings also make a great cold brew. I drink the cold brew every day. I found both in Spain, but the cold brew was sold in different packaging. All this talk about tea, now I have to make a cuppa.

    Spontaneous adventure or complete disaster?!!

When I walked in May 2022 the Ferry was no longer running, but the water taxi is very efficient and reasonably priced. You cant miss the water taxi if you hike through park going into Caminia. The Taxi is at the end of the park.

    Spontaneous adventure or complete disaster?!!

Hi Fi, Congratulations on making the decision to walk. I walked the Portugese in May. It was a wonderful experiance for me and I hope the same for you. My advise is similar to others here. Get the right shoes for your feet and pack as light as possible. When planning to hike my first...

Would love feedback on my planned route - Ponferrada to Santiago

When we walked in 2019 we walked from Portomarin to Lestedo it is about 2 or 3km before Palais de Rei. The area has a variety of accommodations in a country setting. We stayed at Rectoral De Lestedo. At the time is was really inexpensive; today it is more then double, but it was one of our...

Planning a family camino in summer 23

Welcome Many of the accommodations have family rooms; some even have washer and dryers. Both 2019 and 2022 I booked my accommodations using Booking.com and the wise pilgrim app. For luggage transfer I also used https://caminofacil.net They have a good online app for advance booking of...

Hi Trecile, I am glad to hear that your surgery went well and you will be able to travel home soon. I started my Camino from Porto when you started from Lisbon. I was so sad to hear about the issues you had on the Camino but it sounds like things are getting better and that your Husband has...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Camino Mask Strategies?

Mask wearing on transportation is a must and should be taken seriously. I took the nonstop Flixbus from Santiago back to Porto two weeks ago. In addition to the bus driver an attendant was working on the bus; I assumed he was security. Two people in separate areas of the bus did not have...

I made it one day- what I wished I had understood more clearly

Hi BrookGirl305 Everyone walks their own Camino. One hour, one day, one week, one month. Did you walk to the top of the Rock? I did in November 2021 and it was HARD.... your description of Pamplona over the mountain to Uterga sounds easier than I found the climb to the top of the...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Camino Mask Strategies?

I just returned from my Camino. I used one mask per day; but I did not use the mask when outdoors. I stayed in private accommodations. When indoors in common areas I wore a mask. I only ate meals indoors three times.. When eating outdoors; if my server wore a mask; out of respect, I did...

My approach Go to the pharmacy and get anti inflammatory cream use three times a day. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I started walking up hill like I was skiing. It works but takes a lot of energy. When the perso.
