I wasn't sure I was going to post "live from the Camino" for this Camino. I'm happy to do so on my solo Caminos, but when I am walking with family, my focus is a little elsewhere and I am mindful of the privacy of my companion. But here goes. Just know that it won't be as detailed as the threads...
So, slight change of plans. Rosie and I will be bussing in to Triacastela this morning and resting there for a few days before continuing our walk to Santiago. If anyone is liable to arrive in the next few days and wants to say "hi", let me know.
As we head into Camino season for a new batch of pilgrims, we are seeing the usual levels of anxiety that accompany first time pilgrims about to step into the unknown. So, to complement all of the usual "What do you wish you had packed?" or "What do I need to remember to do before setting out?"...
There's another thread elsewhere on the forums called "The Long and Winding Road" where people are posting their landscape photos of the long and winding road that we walk. I thought I'd start another photo thread of my own for a different kind of photo that I like to take - of the little...
SAVE THE DATE!
Join us in the evening in Etobicoke (in the Legion Hall just by the Long Branch GO Station) on March 4 for a special presentation on the Camino Inglés.

For those in (or near) Toronto, Canada on the second Thursday of the month, we've started having Pilgrim Pub Nights upstairs at the Imperial Pub on Dundas just east of Yonge, 7-9 pm. Feel free to join us!
I thought some might find this account of a second Camino, posted by the CBC, interesting. It shows how different Caminos can be.

I've heard of people walking with donkeys, and I've heard of people walking with dogs. But this is the first time I've ever heard of anyone undertaking a Camino with... a chicken?!
Has anyone come across any other unusual animal companions?
The Toronto Camino Community is hosting their Fall meeting November 4 at Beach United Church (140 Wineva Ave, Toronto, ON M4E 2T4).
Aspiring and veteran pilgrims are invited to meet for a full day gathering. There will be a “Camino 101” session upstairs in the morning, and downstairs a different...
Since I see I am not the only one enticed by the 100+GB/mo pre-paid Vodafone SIM cards, I thought I would share a couple of lessons from my use of one of them on my Camino earlier this summer. Perhaps it will aid in your planning:
The "month" you get is not a calendar month. It is four weeks...
There has been some discussion about the life expectancy of Hoka shoes, so I made a little note to myself to report on the condition of my Hoke Challenger ATR 7s when I got back from my Caminos thus summer.
Well, I'm back, so here is the report.
In these shoes, I walked the Madrid, San...
I just saw this notice that [name and photo removed by moderator] is missing since Tuesday (St. James Day), last seen in an albergue near Grado on the Camino Primitivo.
The contact numbers listed are police numbers, so I thought it would be safe (and hopefully useful) to share.
I know there is...
Just to post a quick note that while Rome2Rio (often recommended on these forums) is a great site, it isn't always complete or accurate in its listing.
I went today to look up bus options from Muxía back to Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday. It (a) told me that there are only two buses to...

This is posted here because it is more about Santiago than any particular route. Of course, mods are free to move it as appropriate and I wont be at all unhappy.
