Hi! I took the train from Santiago to Madrid and let me say this, it was a long ride! While the ride itself was no big deal, I was seated with 3 strangers and when the guy who was facing me started to cough without covering his mouth, I took out my mask so fast that I startled them. Needless to...
How very sad! I remember that stretch and even as an avid hiker it was brutal, especially because of the rain and slippery slopes. Poor man. May he rest in peace.
Hi Lunna! Congrats on your dual citizenship. I personally could have gotten dual but I was told that as a dual citizen I would need to file taxes in both countries. Not sure if you are aware of that.
Other than that, I see no time constraints for you on doing the Caminos!
Hi! There are 2 routes. The original, the most rugged, is the historical route. The less rugged is the complimentary route. I took the historical route after it had rained and a pilgrim was kind enough to help me down the slippery slope because it was not only slippery but it was so muddy that...
Great you guys had a wonderful bonding experience. My sister and I did the same journey with another sister walking beside us every step of the way. We're already planning our next Camino!
Hi! My shoes of choice for the Camino were Sketchers D'lites. When it rained, nothing soaked through. When it was hot and sunny, my feet felt fine. Wore cotton socks with them.
I"ll be using Sketchers on my next Camino.
Hi! This has been going on for awhile. I bought my train ticket from Madrid to Sarria back in June and the train stopped at Ourense. At that point, we were able to get on a bus from there to Sarria. I am concerned how the train is operating from Santiago to Madrid as I do have a reservation...
Hi All! My sister and just completed our Camino from Sarria to Santiago..We did encounter tons of flies in the cafeterías and restaurants. For those occasions, I would put a napkin over my glass while I ate
At night, I would put an insect repellant bracelet in the nightstand and problem solved.
Thank you everyone for your responses! Another alternative I was contemplating is to get a flight with a layover in Madrid instead. My concern is that on my return trip to LAX, I have 2 hours to get my exit stamp at Terminal 4 in Barajas before catching my connecting flight. Would 2 hours be...
Hi All!
Walking the Camino in June with my sister. Thinking of flying from LAX to S CQ via Frankfurt. Do I need to go to Customs twice - Frankfurt and SC Q or just once?
Thanks!
Hi Sarah!
I'm thinking of doing Vigo to Santiago next year. I went to Camino Ways website and they indicate that from Vigo to Arcade is 23 km. In total, from Arcade to Santiago is 100 km.
Check it out and see if that works for your friend!
