    Primitivo stages & accommodation.

I can speak well of Albergues El Cruce, Casa Herminia, and Ponte Ferreira from last September. ;)

A call for regulation or permit on the Francés

As one who still walks to the bones for the souls of others ;), and as one who uses luggage transport, and as one who has walked 2 different routes ( at least until Melide) I have .... thoughts. If the goal is simply to reduce crowds, telling people that they cant have a credential, stay in...

Alternative to Monbus (Samos to Santiago)?

For the popular routes (Muxia Santiago for one example), buy before. The early morning bus tends to sell out.

Difficulty/ dangerousness/ albergues on the Primitivo?

One note of caution. The Primitivo in the first week has more elevation changes per day than most of the Frances, all of the route to Finisterre, and some of the second half of the Norte. Your comfort with 20-25 km/ day as you experienced on the route to Finisterre will not likely work as well...

    Night sweats?

Chat with your doctor. Be prepared to talk about your reproductive status, since he/she will ask.

    Recent Smelly Pilgrim Test

Um. After the first whiff of the day, many people no longer " smell" themselves until after they've been separated from their clothes. I've been downwind of too many 😕. The partner test is usually more reliable.

    Your most valuable stamp

There was a wax and ribbon stamp in Palas de Rey in a little kiosk in the center of town, if I remember right. When I complimented the man on the sello (Que hermoso!), he grinned, slicked back his dark hair, and said, "Thank you" in accented English. When I'm home next, I'll get a picture.

"It's not about the gear" camino article from an irish jesuit blog

"It is often driven by anxiety/fear and appears to give the illusion of control, as if all Camino issues can be solved with technology and gear. Rather, one thing that the Camino teaches above all others is that you have to let go of control, learn to trust and to live with uncertainty. This is...

    Pilgrim.es

I've used CaminoWays, and they handle groups. While I get that booking yourself would be cheaper, *i* would turn to professionals for peace of mind with up to 10 people. I wonder if AnnieSantiago or JWilhaus is looking to lead a group next year... Buen Camino.

    Contact solution

Falconbrother, since you're looking for the contact lens solution, not the generic 3% solution, this *might* be available: https://www.ndoptic.com/products/avizor-ever-clean-225ml-hydrogen-peroxide-system-solution-for-contact-30days-made-in-spain

    Opinions on Wlingua?

I've used Duolingo and Babbel, and have started listening to language transfer. But so far, I'm liking Wlingua the best. It presents clear differences between Spanish/Espana and Spanish/Latin America vocabulary ( though I could certainly use correction), and I can actually hear the...

    Observations from my second Camino

You said it best here: "Because unbeknownst to me, everything I found on the Camino I started building at home." "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." T.S.Eliot Buen Vida! Buen Camino!

    Medication woes

I wasn't a hiker while younger, but yes, the number and size of prescription meds needed to take on any trip has certainly grown. I order a month's worth in advance, keep them in their original containers until I've cleared customs at my destination, then dump them in 1-2 plastic baggies...

    Few questions - advice

Let's see... I carried a spork and used it occasionally until Melide. I carried a clothesline; should have carried pins. I carried 300 Euro...got me almost to Santiago. I had a habit of leaving 5 euros for 2 candles, and 20 for a Mass, plus albergues, meals, and laundry. I stayed in Hotel...

    Roads versus Trails

    I was curious 😉

Do I need separate pilgrim passports for my Caminos?

While I'll let those who have collected Salvadorana and the Finisterre certificates comment on whether they obtained those certificates using any old credential, my general impression is that, if you're starting from SJPdP, the required stamps for Compostela are unlikely to fit in any one...

Do I need separate pilgrim passports for my Caminos?

OP, the reason you're getting different answers is because you haven't indicated what your goals are. Do you want access to pilgrim albergues? You only need one, or enough to hold all the stamps. Do you want a Compostela? Again, you only need enough to hold all the stamps, including 2 a...

    Roads versus Trails

Out of complete curiosity, how did you do the entire route bit? I'd like to see this for the main Primitivo ( no Verde), and I used Buen Camino then

Has the dog “policy” on the Camino changed?

Oh, was an uncontrolled dog the proximal cause of the injuries to the two pilgrims we heard about earlier? That's a very painful lesson. :/
