Albergue with privacy curtain (and towel)

I made my own with a lightweight pareo. Doubled as a skirt, scarf, and towel.

    Necessary to reserve gites?

Call to find out if they are open and have not closed for the season. On the Podiensis we found fewer and fewer options after October 15th. Not sure if it's the same for that area.

Can the Camino del Norte be as Magical as the Frances and Portuguese Routes for a first timer?

Yes! My 1st camino was the Frances with my second from Lisbon and onto the coastal from Porto. While I found amazing adventure on the Portuguese I was so happy to go back to Spain to the Camino del Norte. It had the magic of the Frances for me plus the stunning scenery. Camaraderie was much...

    Camino fatigue?

Yes. On the Podiensis last fall, I felt many times, the "I don't know how many of these I have left in me." It was by far the physically toughest of the 3 prior caminos I have done. Now I will head out to do the Primitivo this summer since my daughter is going. How could I pass that up? I am...

    Accommodation Inquiry

In your guidebook, if you can figure out that the gites have whatsap, give that a go. I found them much more responsive to that. The French also use translate.

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

I live in Colorado. Plenty of pharma commercials and injury lawyer commercials but no religion.🤪🤪 in love with my mute button.

Solo woman cyclist Camino Del Norte

On the Norte I was pleased to see alternate paths for bikers. The Norte is more like mountain biking. Much more rugged than the Frances. You will get the camaraderie from the albergues but obviously you will be proceeding along the path faster than the walkers so connections with them will be...

Two pilgrims injured in an attack by a cow

On the via Podiensis we walked through cattle and huge horned bulls laying right on the path in the Aumont-Aubrac. I was always very leery of them no matter how cute and docile they looked!!!

    Hiking Pole Rehoming Service?

Good idea. My daughter and friend will be buying poles in Oviedo on the 15th of July and will be ditching them in Santiago or Muxia when finished. We will do the same and ask if there are any people who are interested in recycling.

    Miam miam dodo necessary?

We made it without it this past fall but sure wished we had bought one in Le Puy because a few times we relied on it from fellow pilgrims. Very comprehensive guide.

San Anton albergue (Castrojeriz) closes till further notice

I spent some time there in 2013 although not overnight. My thoughts even then were that even though it is a lovely place, it IS a crumbling ruin. It was a little disconcerting at the time. A piece fell on a bus? Good thing it wasn't a pilgrim!!!

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

It is but precautions must be taken as with anywhere. It's pretty rare for an entire pack to be taken but I guess it obviously happens. Hoping for a miracle for the OPs wife.

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I to lost (not stolen) something dear to me. I posted on here and definitely got a camino miracle. I'm hoping for the same for your wife.

    Injinji Wool Liners Only?

I just ordered some Creepers. Anxious to field test.

    Injinji Wool Liners Only?

I'm looking for the same info. I have worn the liner inside wool socks and it keeps me from toe blisters which I am prone to. I'm seeing a lot of wool injinis and wonder if they alone would do double duty. I'll be walking the Primitivo in late summer.
