    Be careful with phones.

Sorry to hear that, it’s a horrible thing. Scary thing for me is that our phones are becoming more and more important. I am at the point now where my wallet is almost irrelevant, as I rarely carry cash and my cards are on my phone, and it can’t be too long before our passports are on our phones...

Fine in theory but lots of folks can’t afford private rooms

    Snoring. AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Indeed. I stay in a lot of dorms in my everyday life due to my lifestyle and trust me behaviour in ‘Camino dorms’ is a million times better then non Camino! I had a chap lean over a top bunk and be sick on my clothes once (non Camino)!

    Snoring. AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Maybe we could have ‘ejector bunks’. Put all the snorers on the top bunks, and if they snore beyond a certain decibel, they get launched through a hole in the roof!

    Alternatives to walking if injured

Two months is a long time, and a great opportunity, though understand you will be disappointed. How about buying a 1 or 2 month railpass that covers 33 countries in Europe and getting around the place. Coming into nice weather in many parts.

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Indeed! You will need a lots of practice trips. I reckon at least 100 per country to cover all the different regions within a country… how about the upscale versus the lower scale, the restaurants owned by folks from other countries. Don’t come to the UK and ‘train’ in fish and chip...

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

Thank you. Yes I googled this the other day when I saw this thread! Finland followed by a number of its neighbours!

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

I understand Bobs point - I felt the thread just about stayed ok but of course this forum is frequented by folks that are very pro Spain so a certain direction of thought is likely. Also most folks see the best side of Spain, and in a way just race thru Spain for a month and go home, not really...

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

Indeed. From a UK standpoint, the three starter trips to USA are Florida, New York and Las Vegas. All great trips of course but convey a certain set of images. Largely positive I might add. Of course replace those three with Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Charleston and you have a very different...

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

As a European who visits the US alot, the lack of public transport is the biggest issue by far. It makes life virtually impossible, as a non driver. I guess for folks who live there, the lack of transport means you have to drive everywhere, which obviously means folks are isolated, it means...

Money taken from my Cash Passport! ☹️

It’s cost effectiveness probably depends on what part of the world you are from and what card deals you have!

    National passport in card form

Oh well I was slightly premature in my update. I assumed that the staff at the Romania exit point would ‘double up’ as covering the entry into Bulgaria, but no, as we got off train in Bulgaria, the border police were at the door taking everyones passports. I offered my passport card and it was...

    National passport in card form

Was just reminded of this old thread by another thread but yes they took my Irish passport card this morning, as I crossed a Romania / Bulgaria check point! Different check point to last time. Quite time consuming - the train schedule allows 20 Mins - but it took maybe 40 mins for a 2 carriage...

Walking with a baby or young child

No experience myself but I met a young couple with a baby on the Camino. They seemed very relaxed and I asked them ‘how it was’. Basically they just said you needed to be a lot more planned and organised, and that the ‘default position’ as a young parent is to be planned and organised anyway so...
