I walked in May last, about max of 12 other pilgrims. Some beautiful towns including Santarem , Tomar and Coimbra. There is quite a bit of walking on asphalt and some areas of nature, but not like in Galicia. Bom Camino!
I am in my eighties but try to walk at least 8 klms six day a week. Even with this level of fitness I still found the first four days of a camino last year challenging. Thereafter I did not have any problems with 20k days.

I was 75 when I walked to O Ceibero and i did not find it difficult. However, after walking for almost 4 four weeks from SJPP I was very fit for long climbs.
