The REAL Camino Viejo - a new project for a Camino alternative.

Perhaps it's worth pointing out that gronze has camino vasco and that viejo follows it from salvatierra to miranda.

The REAL Camino Viejo - a new project for a Camino alternative.

I followed the road with tunnels out of Sobron. It was low cloudy day so no views from above, at least I wanted views from below. I saw maybe two cars but perhaps it was Sunday. Tunnels were short but I don't remember if the road through was wide enough for one or two cars. I thought the...

The REAL Camino Viejo - a new project for a Camino alternative.

For Pamplona exit, have you seen my wikiloc? It's from 2012 but it should be still passable. https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/camino2012-113-pamplona-hirriberi-20644522 And do you know of trail Vuelta de Pamplona? I think it's GR 20 or 220 or similar. It is GR waymarked (red and white)...

The REAL Camino Viejo - a new project for a Camino alternative.

Looking at your plotted trail, I have a few observations: - are you sure you want to exit Pamplona on a main road and a motorway? - that's an interesting start to Olloz, I have a vague memory of albergue there? - is that the less steep descent into Puebla de Arganzon? I'm interested how it's...

The REAL Camino Viejo - a new project for a Camino alternative.

That's a cool map wirh superimposed roman roads. I never noticed before that Zaragoza is such a road hub. And that there is a road (or a series of roads) that effectively encircle the whole of Iberian peninsula!

A call for regulation or permit on the Francés

You were really lucky then. I will take a guess: Hospital, Mato Casanova and Astrar?

Volunteering at Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago

I am glad to hear that, thank you!

Volunteering at Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago

As I understand, the pilgrim has no longer any control over the latin version of his/her name? I am asking because I always asked for my latin name to be Celestina, because that is my chosen name for medieval living history that I do.

    The forum, 20 years on.

I had to go and look, and saw that I joined at the start of 2011. That would have been when I was preparing my long camino from home. I am not here every day and I have long(er) periods when my other life takes over, but I always enjoy browsing through threads, finding tips and curiosa, and...

Pau or Oloron Sainte Marie to Puente de la Reina

A good alternative option. I walked it in 2022. Well marked. A mixture of small roads and trails. Beautiful day from Arudy to Oloron. Reports on gite in Asson in 2022 were not very favourable but apparently things have improved. I stayed in Oloron, Arudy and Lestelle-Betharram (I was going in...

Pau or Oloron Sainte Marie to Puente de la Reina

I have not yet been to Pau but Lescar, which is on the camino and outside Pau, is lovely and gite there very good. Oloron is also a lovely town, quite big and worth exploring. Perhaps you may consider splitting the day from Pau to Oloron - quite long and a bit challenging for the first day of...

LIVE from the Camino 3 days on the Asturias/Viejo - Pamplona to Salvatierra

You will need yo check with accommodations or tourist offices. If possible, in advance, so you can plan accordingly. With this, it can be done without a tent, but sometimes there is no (budget) albergue option.

Are passport copies accepted at albergues?

    Thank you for this!

Are passport copies accepted at albergues?

That was my guess. It annoys me more than anything. We are being constantly bombarded with safety measures for our personal information, and then a hostel copies your most important personal info and stores it where? (rhetorical question)

Are passport copies accepted at albergues?

The article is clear, but what about the practice? If you refuse to have your passport photocopied or photographed with a phone, can they refuse to check you in and you have to find another accommodation? I am specifically interested for France this year. Pereonally, I am more worried about my...
