    Are There Really That Many More Pilgrims?

    In 2006 when i did my camino, there were around 107000 pilgrims and 2016 not counting December over 270000. I am actually shocked about the growth in numbers and i can imagine the mad run for beds at the albergues.

    What is the one Albergue that you would say not to miss

    I was in Ligonde in 2006 and 2007, it was a wonderful place and was great to stay there. Before Ligonde we stayed in Portomarin, would skip Portomarin and head straight to Ligonde next time Top Albergue.

    Walking on the RAIN in May. Trail shoes?

    My walking gear Rub petroleum jelly on your feet. Coolmax liners, woollen socks. Goretex ankel lengte shoes and gaiters and finally water proof breathable pants. Shoes must be well walked in before the camino. never had bruised feet. Tired yes but no bruises or wet even in the torrential...

    I would prefer Goretex shoes. And gaiters . Way better than plastic over your shoes. Plastic doesnot breath. And you will be wet inside. I know goretex shoes are a bit expensive. But good walking gear is a must for walking the camino. That has been my experience in walking the camino. Cheers

    A cunning and dangerous plan indeed. Maybe take a colleague along , if you miss a step , there;s your colleague to help you out. But then again , if you want to be alone, doesnot help with a colleague hanging around.
